In 1982, as a recent graduate furniture designer from the Danish Design School, he began working with leading Danish design companies such as Paustian and Louis Poulsen. Since the late 1980s he has worked closely with the audio-visual company Bang & Olufsen (B&O), designing their successful Earphones and EarSet, as well as their latest flagship audio product, BeoSound5.

An important period in Anders Hermansen's career as a designer was when he experimented with a range of furniture ‘sketches’ in wire. These objects opened up a three-dimensional space in which he explored the interaction between the chair and the body. Several of his wire pieces have been purchased by the Danish Arts Foundation and are also included in the permanent collections of the Trapholt Museum and the Danish Museum of Art & Design.

He has also been awarded several grants from, among others, the Kay Bojesen and K.V. Engelhardt Memorial Fund and the Danish Arts Foundation.
