Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Engelbrechts goal is to be among the leaders in the industry when it comes to environmental and social responsibility. Engelbrechts seeks to achieve this objective through sound development for the entire company and achieve a purposeful development and production of the products that we bring to the market.
Principally, we support this goal by identifying and developing long-term durable design and continuing the long held fight with “disposable furniture.”
Engelbrechts supports FN’s Global Compact as well as the principles that are based here.
We have the ambition to reinforce the environmental focus with the new products we bring to the market. We strive to contribute to the innovation in the field of environmental standards and establish a greater regard for the environment than other similar products take on. Engelbrechts actively deals with the environment in connection with operation, product development, production and transport. “Environmentally friendly” is an extra dimension to the words quality, innovation, and sincerity - three of the four values that drive our company.
-
Engelbrechts seeks to openly and actively contribute to improving both the internal and external environment through a proactive commitment to a safe and healthy working environment.
-
At the very least, Engelbrechts seeks to meet the national and international environmental requirements.
-
Within a responsible economic framework, we hope to, across the enterprise, minimize the burden on the environment and the consumption of resources through the development of new products and processes.
-
The environmental impact of a product’s lifetime is evaluated and described.Where ever possible, products should be designed for re-use and recycling. At the same time, we can ensure that the product and the packaging can be disposed of.
-
Engelbrechts accepts retired products for reuse and repair.
-
Engelbrechts utilizes the most efficient method of production, taking the environment into account and striving to use clean technology, where it’s economically and technically possible. We also seek to support and promote, where possible, the use of clean technology.
-
Engelbrechts purchases should be based on a partnership where ethics and environmental performance play a crucial role.
-
For our products, we secure assets that comply with the EU’s current safety requirements. We also ensure that the replacement of components creates “green” products as much as possible.
-
We will constantly look at in conjunction the inventory of our products as well as our range of alternative environmentally friendly products and components.
-
We seek to ensure that resources are used as little as possible.
-
The biggest part is reuse of used packaging in order to keep waste as little as possible.
Initiatives in 2012
We take the initiative to promote a greater environmental and climate-related accountability by annually identifying the consumption of:
- Energy and water
- waste
- transport
- Office supplies and promotional materials
- packaging
We have identified the consumption of the points above for the year 2011 and expect to lead corrective actions in 2012 to conduct:
- A reduction of min. 5% on energy and water and waste
- A slight increase of 2% in transport due to expectations of increased sales
- A reduction in office supplies and promotional materials circa 10%
- A slight increase of 2% on the packaging due to expectations of increased sales
Engelbrechts A/S has changed the chrome on all frames in the CHAIRIK range designed by Erik Magnussen from traditional chrome (CrO6) to a more environmentally friendly chrome (CrO3).
CrO3 is also called 'green chrome'. Not because it looks green, but because this type of chrome is not carcinogenic. CrO3 has a different atomic structure, which prevents the atoms from penetrating human skin and causing allergic reactions, etc.
