Environmental improvements to Erik Magnussen’s design
Engelbrechts A/S has changed the chrome on all frames of the CHAIRIK series designed by Erik Magnussen from a traditional chrome (CrO6) to a more environmentally friendly chrome (CrO3).
"CrO3 is also called 'green chrome'. Not because it looks green, but because this type of chrome is not carcinogenic. CrO3 has a different atomic structure, which prevents the atoms from penetrating human skin and causing allergic reactions, etc. This is a big advantage, particularly in terms of production. Only a few furniture manufacturers in the world currently use CrO3, but we're convinced that it will become the industry standard very soon", says Engelbrechts' Managing Director Peter Mahler Sørensen.
The change does not affect the frame's strength and thickness, but compared to CrO6, CrO3 chrome slightly improves the finish of the surface. Despite the higher cost of the improved chrome, prices on all CHAIRIK chairs will stay the same (from EUR 215 per chair excl. VAT).
At the same time as this improvement, Engelbrechts A/S is also introducing a new dining table called APPETIT. APPETIT is a lightweight laminated tabletop available in a range of sizes, shapes and colours. It is 23.5 mm thick, with a 2 mm ABS edge in colours that match the tabletop. The round 38 mm legs are in polished chrome and have an aluminium adjusting screw. The APPETIT series was designed by Morten Engelbrecht. The 80 cm x 160 cm version costs EUR 580 excl. VAT.
