Kevi is the classic office chair with the hardwearing principle: the better you sit, the more you get done. Designed by an architect, it is suitable for homes, offices, schools and workplaces where one solution must satisfy many demands. Everything is visible, nothing is superfluous: seat, back, base, and controls designed to functional perfection. A simple well-balanced formula that incorporates aesthetic appeal with freedom of movement plus the flexibility you would expect from a full-service program.

Meet the designer

Jørgen Rasmussen

Jørgen Rasmussen and his twin brother Ib Rasmussen were born in Odense, Denmark on April 26, 1931. Jørgen was born 10 minutes before Ib, making him the eldest. Both brothers are architects and studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, from which they graduated in 1955. In their student days the identical twins took great pleasure in confusing others with their appearance, dressing the same and changing places. Ib was in Greece when he should have been graduating from the academy, so Jørgen posed as his brother and defended Ib’s final project before the Academy council members. Directly after graduation, the brothers served in the Danish Navy for 14 months, then began their careers as architects.

Kevi 2007 / 2537

The School of Architecture in Copenhagen has selected approx. 1000. Kevi chairs Model 2537 in polyurethane foam. These Kevi chairs replaced the Wegner FDB-chair, which, for many years, served as student chairs. The FDB-chair did not meet the modern requirements of ergonomics and various working positions, and it is important for students who spend day and night working on their projects to sit well and have the option to adjust the chair exactly as they please. Integral foam on seat and back are equally durable and suitable for an environment with lots of glue, scissors and cutting tools. The students spend many hours on Kevi-chairs and the chairs are constantly in use, which also makes high demands for durability.
