Morten Engelbrecht
Morten Engelbrecht was born on 10 January 1961 and is the designer behind the APPETIT® Table series. He has worked with furniture, design and materials since his student years. After graduating with a business degree, he worked for furniture companies such as Bo-Tikken and Paustian for many years.
In 1989, Morten Engelbrecht started his own company: Engelbrechts A/S. Initially the company served as an exclusive distributor of many brands, such as Wilkhahn and Amat-3. After a successful start, Morten Engelbrecht expanded the business concept to include furniture developed by Engelbrechts A/S itself. He developed the company’s first product series in collaboration with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects (VLA). This inspired him to convert Engelbrechts A/S from a Danish furniture retailer to an international furniture manufacturer that sells furniture through an exclusive dealer network. Encouraged to develop more products for the company, Morten Engelbrecht then began his next close cooperation, this time with the designer Erik Magnussen.
Morten Engelbrecht has spent many years developing furniture, but mainly as a client and consultant for external designers. With the APPETIT® series, we see the first product where he independently formulates his own idea, and designs and completes the product himself. Morten Engelbrecht is now the principal shareholder and chairman of Engelbrechts A/S. He is active in the company’s design processes and as its Development Director – thus he is responsible for all the products Engelbrechts A/S brings to the market.
